Orin Education is looking for enthusiastic, reliable and capable tutors to join our growing teaching team in Glen Waverley.
We provide structured English and Mathematics tutoring for primary school students, with a strong focus on building strong academic foundations, confidence and effective learning habits.
This role requires tutors to be confident teaching both Primary English and Mathematics.
We welcome applications from experienced tutors, qualified teachers, individuals with a background or qualifications in education, and academically strong university students who genuinely enjoy working with children.
About the Role
As a Primary Tutor at Orin Education, you will teach English and Mathematics to primary school students in a structured classroom environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging and well-structured English and Mathematics lessons
- Preparing appropriately for lessons using the curriculum and teaching materials provided
- Explaining concepts clearly and at an age-appropriate level
- Supporting students with different abilities and levels of confidence
- Encouraging participation, questions and independent thinking
- Monitoring student understanding and progress during lessons
- Reviewing student classwork and homework and providing brief feedback where required
- Keeping brief student progress records and communicating relevant learning or classroom concerns to the academic team
- Assisting with brief end-of-term student learning and progress reports
- Maintaining a positive, respectful and supportive classroom environment
- Following Orin Education's curriculum, teaching guidelines, classroom procedures and child safety requirements
- Maintaining a high standard of professionalism, punctuality and reliability
Structured curriculum materials and teaching resources are provided, allowing tutors to focus on effective lesson delivery and student engagement.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for tutors who are patient, responsible, dependable and genuinely good at communicating with children.
Successful candidates should:
- Be confident teaching both Primary English and Mathematics
- Have strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Communicate clearly and confidently
- Be patient, friendly and approachable with younger students
- Be able to explain concepts in different ways when students need additional support
- Be comfortable engaging and managing a group of primary school students
- Be reliable, organised and punctual
- Have a genuine interest in helping students learn and improve
- Be able to commit consistently to agreed classes throughout a school term
- Hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC), or be willing to obtain one before commencing
- Have the right to work in Australia
Previous tutoring or teaching experience is welcome, but not essential for strong candidates with the right academic ability, communication skills and attitude.
Highly Regarded
The following are desirable but not essential:
- Previous tutoring, teaching, coaching, mentoring or experience working with children
- Current study or qualifications in Education, Teaching or a related field
- Strong academic achievement, including a high ATAR or relevant VCE study scores
- Strong results in English, Mathematics or related subjects
- Victorian Selective Entry High School exam experience
- Private school Scholarship Exam experience
- Experience with verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning or exam preparation
- Academic background that may support future Secondary or VCE teaching

Location & Availability
Classes are conducted in person in Glen Waverley, VIC.
Teaching opportunities are primarily available during:
- Weekday afternoons after school (4-7pm)
- Saturdays
- School Holiday – Weekdays (9am-4pm)
Additional teaching opportunities may also be available.
Applicants who can reliably commit to an agreed weekly teaching schedule throughout a school term will be highly regarded.
