How you'll make an impact
The Housing and Property Officer (NSW) manages day-to-day tenancy operations, project management of works within homes, maintenance requests, and contractor relationships within an assigned portfolio. This role delivers customer-focused services that balance sustaining tenancies, protecting Housing Choices Australia's interests, and respecting stakeholder rights. Working collaboratively across Customer Services and Property, the officer ensures high-quality tenancy management while maintaining compliance with policies and regulations. Working with the NDIS Engagement Team to fill vacancies, and ensure compliance with regards to SDA/NDIS.
Your work will support residents to sustain tenancies, understand their rights and responsibilities, and access safe and stable housing. We welcome applicants from community housing, public housing and private real estate with transferable tenancy management experience.
This is a fixed-term role for a period of 18 months.
Your role in action
- Provide strategic advice, and drive process and system improvements to optimise performance and outcomes.
- Promote a high-performance, collaborative workplace by mentoring others, sharing best practices, and upholding organisational values.
- Contribute to strategic planning, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, and proactively manage risks.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represent the organisation in cross-functional and external forums.
- Deliver high-quality tenancy services, including customer communication, complaint resolution, compliance, rent management, inspections, and sustaining tenancies through a person-centred approach
- Project management of major works within homes, maintenance works, scoping for works, contractor performance, property compliance, and asset management to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality property outcomes.
- Accurate record keeping supporting contractual reporting obligations
- Apply a person-centered approach when working with residents, ensuring their rights, choice and control are upheld, including in accordance with the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme Quality and Safeguards Commission.
Skills and Experiences:
About you
You’re passionate about social impact, providing a safe and quality homes, housing, and equity and ready to contribute your skills to something bigger.
You will have:
Strong understanding of tenancy, property and small project management, and disability legislation (including NDIS), and issues affecting vulnerable people and housing insecurity
Relevant tertiary qualification in business, strategy, management, community housing, or equivalent experience
Demonstrated experience managing complex tenancy matters, including anti-social behaviour, arrears, tenancy terminations, and tribunal/court processes
Experience in providing exceptional customer service
Demonstrated experience in property management and strategic asset management.
Experience in business planning, strategy execution, reporting, and driving innovative, best-practice solutions in housing or related sectors
You must agree to undergo any required employment screening, including but not limited to a National Criminal History or Police Check, Working with Children or Vulnerable Persons Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
