About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive Health & Safety Capability Lead to support a high-performing operational site. Partnering with site leadership, you’ll drive safety, wellbeing, and injury management outcomes while ensuring compliance with Queensland WHS legislation.
Key Responsibilities – Safety & Compliance
- Provide frontline WHS support to operations, maintenance and leaders
- Maintain WHS systems (risk assessments, operating instructions, internal management systems)
- Assist / deliver inductions, training, and competency tracking alongside the training team
- Lead incident investigations and corrective actions
- Coordinate and participate in audits, inspections, and statutory compliance
- Oversee first aid and emergency preparedness
- Managing and maintaining health and safety committee members with monthly meetings, meeting minutes
- Health and safety representative management required for the current HSRs onsite
- Collaborate with our distribution partner on joint safety initiatives to improve overall site safety performance
Key Responsibilities – Injury Management & Wellbeing
- Drive early intervention and injury management processes aligned with QLD requirements
- Ensure timely escalation of injuries through approved injury care providers and applicable stakeholders
- Coach leaders on correct reporting, escalation, and management of injuries
- Coordinate return-to-work and recovery-at-work programs
- Manage onsite physiotherapy services, including scheduling and outcomes
- Deliver targeted health & wellbeing initiatives (e.g. manual handling, fatigue)
- Analyse injury trends and implement preventative strategies
- TRIFR and LTIFR reporting and managing trend scales internally
Key Responsibilities – Engagement & Culture
- Promote a strong safety and wellbeing culture
- Support leaders in meeting WHS obligations
- Engage with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external providers
- Drive communication, consultation and positive safety outlook for overall site management
About You
- Experience in a WHS role within manufacturing, logistics or similar
- Demonstrated experience in injury management and return-to-work
- Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management
- Confident influencing leaders and driving behavioural change within the safety space
- Enjoy a combination of boots on ground and compliance based activities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications
Must have
- Cert IV WHS (or higher)
- RTW / rehabilitation coordination experience
- 5+ years’ experience in safety
- Experience with onsite health providers (e.g. physio – injury care line)
- Background in automated or high-risk environments
- ICAM certificate
- RTW coordinator certificate or equivalent
- First aid, CPR, mental health first aid
