Overview:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an IT Technical Program Manager (TPM) supporting our Global IT Organisation and the broader Bio-Rad business.
The role will be remotely based in Australia, in a location preferred by the successful candidate.
The Technical Program Manager will lead the delivery of complex, cross-functional AI initiatives across two portfolios: AI for Business Support (enterprise AI enablement, agentic workflows, and adoption across business functions) and AI for Product Support (AI capabilities that support Bio-Rad products, Internal customers, and Various IT Programs).
How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Turn AI pilots into production capabilities. Many AI efforts stall between a promising demo and something the business actually runs on. This role owns that gap — driving initiatives across both the business-support and product-support portfolios from use-case intake through evaluation, rollout, and stabilization, with clear exit criteria at each stage rather than open-ended experimentation.
- Bring delivery discipline to a fast-moving, ambiguous space. AI initiatives arrive with shifting scope, evolving tooling, and stakeholders who don't yet know what's feasible. The TPM will impose structure — plans, milestones, dependency maps, decision logs, and a governance cadence — without slowing the pace of iteration that makes these programs work.
- Make delivery work across globally distributed teams and functions. Success depends on aligning application, platform, data, and integration engineering with QA, Information Security, Data Privacy, Regulatory, Operations, and business owners. This role is the connective tissue: surfacing dependencies early, forcing decisions to owners, and keeping teams in different time zones moving against one plan.
- Get AI initiatives through governance the first time. Security architecture review, data classification and privacy approval, responsible-AI and EU AI Act obligations, and — for product-facing capabilities — IEC 62304 and quality requirements are where timelines usually slip. The TPM will build these requirements into delivery plans up front so compliance becomes a checkpoint, not a late-stage rework cycle.
- Prove and communicate the value. Leadership needs an honest, consistent read on program health and outcomes. This role will define success measures with senior IT and business stakeholders — adoption, productivity, and consumption/cost metrics — track delivery against them, and deliver clear executive updates on progress, risks, and realized business impact.
What You Bring:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline; equivalent professional experience considered. PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM/SAFe, or comparable program/agile certification preferred.
- Work Experience: 5+ years managing technical programs, projects, or release delivery in a software or IT environment, including at least 2 years coordinating cross-functional initiatives across distributed engineering and business teams. Direct experience with release management, deployment coordination, or delivery governance strongly preferred. Exposure to AI/ML, automation, or agentic workflow initiatives — or a demonstrated track record of ramping quickly on new technology domains — is required.
- Program execution and delivery rigor: Proven ability to build and run delivery plans, roadmaps, milestone tracking, RAID logs, and governance cadence for concurrent initiatives; hands-on proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and dashboard/reporting tools, including agile ceremonies and sprint-level tracking.
- Cross-functional influence and stakeholder management: Demonstrated success driving alignment across engineering, product, QA, Information Security, Data Privacy, Regulatory, and business functions without direct authority — including forcing decisions to owners, escalating appropriately, and holding commitments across time zones.
- Executive communication and outcome orientation: Ability to translate technical detail into clear, honest updates for senior IT and business leadership; experience defining and tracking success measures (adoption, productivity, cost/consumption) and reporting program health, risks, and realized business value. Comfort operating in a regulated environment, with working knowledge of quality and compliance requirements such as IEC 62304, data privacy, or responsible-AI/EU AI Act obligations, is preferred. If you have experience that aligns with the responsibilities of this role, we encourage you to apply.
