About Codex
Codex (ABN 51 630 554 657) is an Australian technology consultancy delivering high-quality data, cloud, and AI solutions for organisations across sectors including healthcare, energy, and financial services.
We are a high-performing, fast-paced consultancy that values people who bring energy, accountability, and pride in their work. We care deeply about delivery. Not just getting things done, but getting them done properly and in ways that genuinely help our clients succeed.
We are officially Great Place to Work® Certified, reflecting the strong culture we have built. One grounded in trust, high standards, ownership, and genuine support for our people.
Why This Role Exists
Codex is growing, and so is the infrastructure that supports our team and our clients. We need a Cloud Systems Administrator who can take ownership of our internal AWS environment, keep things running smoothly, and contribute to managed service delivery across a growing portfolio of client environments. This is not a set-and-forget operations role. You will be close to the work, close to the engineers, and expected to build real depth across cloud administration, monitoring, and incident response.
You will report to our CTO, working alongside senior cloud engineers and the broader Codex team.
What You Will Do
- Administer and maintain Codex's internal AWS environment, including user access, cost monitoring, and network configuration
- Manage day-to-day AWS resources including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, and RDS
- Monitor infrastructure health and respond to alerts using tools such as CloudWatch, escalating and documenting incidents appropriately
- Triage, investigate, and resolve first-line support tickets for internal systems and managed service clients
- Carry out routine patching, backups, log review, and scheduled maintenance across internal and client environments
- Follow runbooks and change management processes for all infrastructure changes
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, tickets, and incidents
- Support on components of larger client infrastructure projects
- Participate in on-call or rostered support arrangements as required
What We Are Looking For
- Hands-on experience with AWS or another major cloud provider
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPNs) and operating systems
- Comfortable working in Linux and/or Windows Server environments
- Experience with scripting (Bash, PowerShell, or Python) for routine automation
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar
- Clear, direct communication skills with internal stakeholders and client contacts
- Strong sense of ownership and a willingness to dig into problems rather than pass them along
- Experience in a consulting or managed services environment is a plus, as is exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
Why Codex
- Great Place to Work® Certified
- Genuine exposure to client environments, not just internal IT
- Work alongside senior cloud, data, and AI engineers across real delivery
- Career progression into senior cloud consulting
