Macquarie University is seeking a Lead, Senior Financial Analyst to join our Group Finance team and play a central part in the financial reporting that underpins decision-making across the University and its Controlled Entities.
In this role you will provide high-quality financial reporting support and act as a Second in Charge (2IC) for Group Finance Managers within the Financial Operations and/or Controlled Entity teams. Performing month-end and year-end close activities across relevant Group entities, including preparing and reviewing complex monthly journals (accruals, prepayments, allocations, balance sheet and other GL reconciliations).
Liaising and coordinating with key stakeholders on queries, processes and inputs/outputs, and preparing primary analysis presentations covering salary-related costs and revenue.
Identifying, designing and implementing process improvements, and partnering with Systems/IT to deliver improvement initiatives across the University and Controlled Entities.
Reviewing and approving recurring and standard journals and schedules prepared by Financial Analysts, and helping apply finance policies, procedures and internal controls.
Coordinating, reviewing and resolving inter-company transactions, preparing inter-company elimination trial balances and inter-company reporting.
Supporting the provision of data and information for external audits and applying a clear understanding of supply chain and inventory processes when preparing journals in line with accounting principles.
Complying with relevant EEO and WHS regulations and undertaking other duties appropriate to the classification.
