Racing Victoria Group (RVG) is one of Australia’s leading sporting organisations, and the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. We develop, promote and manage the conduct of the racing of thoroughbred horses in Victoria to safeguard its integrity.
RVG is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team on a 12 month maximum term contract, commencing August 2026.
This role plays a key part in supporting the financial sustainability of the Victorian thoroughbred racing industry through the delivery of accurate, timely, and high quality accounting support.
You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, contributing to core finance operations including reporting, forecasting, reconciliations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Support financial reporting and month-end processes, including accruals, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting across key operational areas
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and support general ledger integrity
- Support prizemoney payments and reconciliation to industry participants
- Assist in statutory reporting and the external audit process
- Contribute to tax compliance processes (BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax)
- Assist with weekly cashflow monitoring and creditor payments
- Identify and support process and cost efficiency improvements across Finance
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- A formal accounting qualification (or working towards)
- Experience using ERP accounting systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Advanced Excel capability and strong Microsoft Office skills
- The ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
- A team oriented mindset with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
