We are seeking an experienced Process and Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing engineering at our Melbourne operations.
About the role
Reporting to the ANZ Operations Director, you will own how product is made across our manufacturing operations, the processes, methods, manufacturing data and automation that turn designs into repeatable, low-cost, high-quality output. You will lead a small engineering team and drive manufacturing performance and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Design, document and optimise manufacturing processes, standard work, routings and cycle times using Lean and Six Sigma methods, including process capability analysis
- Design and specify mechanical equipment, fixtures and tooling for production processes
- Commission and validate new plant, equipment and production lines prior to volume production
- Create and maintain bills of materials, routings and manufacturing master data that feed planning and costing
- Drive engineering-led cost reduction and productivity through value analysis, yield, scrap and OEE improvement projects
- Identify, justify and deliver automation and digital manufacturing improvements, including capital expenditure business cases
- Industrialise new products, ensuring processes and equipment are capable and ready for volume production
- Lead and develop the engineering team
Skills and experience required
- Degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or process engineering, or a related discipline
- Substantial experience in a manufacturing or process engineering leadership role in discrete manufacturing, for example injection moulding, assembly or sheet metal
- Demonstrated experience designing and specifying mechanical equipment and tooling, and commissioning new plant and equipment
- Strong knowledge of process design, PFMEA, process capability studies and quality control standards
- Track record delivering Lean or Six Sigma cost-out and productivity projects, Green or Black Belt desirable
- Experience industrialising new products and maintaining BOM and routing data in ERP or PLM systems
- Structured problem-solving, 8D and root cause analysis, and continuous improvement capability
