Join our North Sydney-based team as the lead for cyber security and compliance across Ventia’s Transport sector. Acting as the primary subject matter expert, you will oversee security obligations, risk management, and protective security environments, ensuring a strong and consistent security posture across the business.
This internally focused role is responsible for driving security and compliance uplift across multiple contracts, embedding best practices, and ensuring alignment with applicable regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and client expectations. You will play a key role in strengthening governance, managing risk, and fostering a culture of security excellence throughout the Transport sector.

Key Accountabilities
-
Cyber Risk & Security Uplift: Lead the identification and management of cyber risks across Transport contracts, implementing fit-for-purpose controls and supporting secure IT/OT architectures and security uplift initiatives.

Compliance & Assurance: Act as the SME for Transport security obligations, ensuring alignment with the SOCI Act, regulatory requirements, and internal standards, while supporting audits and assurance activities.

OT Security: Provide guidance on securing OT environments, including SCADA, signalling, and ITS, embedding security-by-design principles and enhancing monitoring, detection, and resilience capabilities.

Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with operational and engineering teams to deliver practical, risk-based security advice and ensure alignment with enterprise security standards and strategies.

Governance & Incident Readiness: Support security reporting, risk visibility, protective security initiatives, and incident preparedness and response activities across the Transport sector.
About You

Demonstrated experience within the transport sector.

Proven success in a senior cyber security leadership role (e.g., BISO, CISO, or equivalent) within complex operational environments.

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing capabilities, with the ability to engage effectively at executive and operational levels.

Experience with Operational Technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) security.

Sound understanding of critical infrastructure environments and relevant regulatory obligations, including the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act.

Strong risk management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to balance security requirements with operational and business objectives.

Relevant qualifications in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline are desirable.

Industry-recognised certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent are highly regarded.

Current security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one, is preferred.
