The Role
Due to our growth, we’re looking for an Associate, Senior Associate or Special Counsel (5PQE+) to join our amazing Melbourne Property Team.
The Melbourne Property Team is one of Mills Oakley’s leading practices. It is led by a team of 5 Partners and over 30 staff with the quality of the Team’s expertise recognised by the market with Partners listed in Best Lawyers and Doyle’s Guide. The Team has a track record of acting for many of Australia’s most significant property groups.

The job is suited to someone who is mainly interested in national commercial leasing work for an exciting mix of blue chip and predominantly landlord clients and with the support of a friendly Partner recognised in the 2025-2027 editions of Best Lawyers for his expertise in Leasing Law. Clients are from the office, industrial and retail sectors and include the largest Australian property group, the largest international owner/investor of commercial property, local developers of regional shopping centres and a large national retailer.
You will play a role in providing support to clients with the preparation and negotiation of lease and agreement for lease documents, giving a wide variety of leasing advice and providing basic leasing disputes advice.
You also have the ability to manage existing client relationships, supervise lawyers, start or grow your own practice and work with other teams on cross-referred work.
Who We Are Looking For
We’re looking for someone with at least 5 years’ experience in a reputable property practice with a strong commercial (non-retail) leasing background and preferably with institutional landlord clients.
You will display good a good level of attention to detail, time management, negotiating ability, enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to maintain positive client relationships.
