About Us
Lindquist Electrical Services is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to prepare and deliver accurate estimates and cost plans for commercial and multi-residential electrical construction projects. The successful applicant will work closely with the Senior Estimator, construction professionals, suppliers, subcontractors and site teams to prepare competitive tenders and support the effective delivery of awarded projects.
About the Role
As a Construction Estimator, you will prepare accurate estimates and cost plans for commercial and multi-residential electrical construction projects. You will review tender documents, complete quantity take-offs, obtain supplier quotations, calculate project costs and collaborate with builders, consultants, subcontractors and project teams to deliver competitive tender submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, tender documents, regulations and relevant codes.
- Prepare detailed estimates and cost plans for electrical construction projects.
- Complete quantity take-offs and calculate labour, material, equipment, plant and subcontractor costs.
- Estimate project timelines, resource requirements and construction costs.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers, wholesalers and subcontractors.
- Liaise with builders, architects, consultants, project managers and subcontractors to clarify tender requirements.
- Identify exclusions, qualifications, risks and potential cost variations within tender documentation.
- Prepare tender submissions, pricing schedules, scopes of work and supporting documentation.
- Maintain estimating databases, cost records, supplier pricing and tender registers.
- Compare estimated costs with project outcomes and recommend improvements to estimating procedures.
- Assist with tender negotiations and project handovers following successful contract awards.
- Assess revised drawings and site instructions and prepare variation cost estimates where required.
- Ensure estimates comply with project specifications, contractual requirements and applicable construction standards.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant qualification in building, construction, construction management, engineering, quantity surveying or a related discipline.
- At least two years of relevant experience in construction estimating, preferably involving electrical, commercial or multi-residential projects.
- Demonstrated experience preparing quantity take-offs, cost estimates and tender submissions.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
- Sound understanding of construction methods, materials, labour requirements and project costs.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam or comparable estimating software.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with Procore, Simpro or similar construction-management software is desirable.
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, builders, consultants, suppliers and project teams.
- Australian work rights are desirable; however, suitably qualified applicants requiring employer sponsorship may also be considered.
