About the role
This position is responsible for leading, developing and supporting teams to deliver targeted disaster resilience and recovery programs that support individuals, households and communities to better anticipate, respond to and recovery well from disasters and other crises. In this role you will be responsible for leading the delivery of our Pillowcase® and Emergency Redi® Programs as well as other disaster resilience and recovery training packages and programming.
This role also involves working at a state sector level to increase knowledge and understanding of disaster impacts, the importance of preparedness and resilience measures, and the psychosocial needs of disaster-affected people and communities.
What you will bring
- Proven ability to lead, support and mentor teams, with a strong focus on strengthening positive team culture.
- Demonstrated sound technical knowledge, expertise and understanding of disaster resilience, community development principles, and facilitation and training.
- Excellent advocacy and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Sound analytical skills and demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and solve problems and exercise initiative and judgment where practices and procedures are not clearly defined, with the ability to use data to inform practice.
- Experience in building and maintaining collaborative relationships across sectors.
- Sound discipline knowledge gained through experience in disaster resilience, emergency management, or community development.
