Director of Care & Operations

About the Role
Reporting directly to the Facility Manager and supported by a team of Clinical Care Coordinators, you will provide strategic clinical leadership while contributing to the overall operational success of the residence. You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of clinical care, maintaining accreditation and compliance requirements, supporting operational performance, and developing a positive, high-performing team culture. Working closely with the Facility Manager, you will play a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both resident outcomes and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support clinical and care teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
- Oversee day-to-day clinical operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and clinical excellence across the residence.
- Partner with the Facility Manager to support operational performance and strategic objectives.
- Ensure effective clinical governance, risk management, documentation, and reporting processes.
- Foster strong relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Support workforce planning, team development, succession planning, and staff engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to occupancy, service delivery, and operational efficiency outcomes.
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement strategies to improve quality and resident satisfaction.
- Promote a positive workplace culture that aligns with organisational values and best-practice care standards.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (essential)
- Minimum 4-5 years' experience in a senior clinical leadership role within residential aged care.
- Previous senior leadership experience as a Director of Care, Care Manager, Facility Manager, or General Manager.
- Demonstrated experience working within large residential aged care facilities of 100+ beds.
- Strong understanding of aged care standards, accreditation requirements, clinical governance, and quality management systems.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Confidence using clinical management systems, reporting platforms, and digital documentation tools.
