NOAH’S on the Beach is one of Newcastle’s most iconic family owned hotels and event venues. We are seeking a passionate, commercially minded and hands on Operations Manager to support the General Manager in delivering exceptional guest experiences and ensuring the smooth and efficient daily operation of the hotel.
About the Role
As Operations Manager, you will take ownership of the day to day operation of the hotel and play a key role in driving performance across our people, departments and internal workflows.
This is a highly visible, hands on leadership role for someone who enjoys being on the floor, supporting teams and resolving operational issues rather than managing solely from behind a desk.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead and support Department Heads across Food and Beverage, Front Office, Conferencing and Events, Maintenance, and Housekeeping and Laundry. You will ensure each department operates efficiently, meets service standards and remains financially sustainable.
You will be expected to apply practical judgement, analyse operational challenges and identify solutions before increasing labour or other operating costs. The successful candidate will balance exceptional guest service with strong commercial and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the hotel’s day to day operations and act as the key point of contact for staff support and operational problem solving.
- Maintain a visible, hands on presence across the hotel and step in wherever required to keep operations running smoothly.
- Lead, coach and support Department Heads to achieve service, staffing, productivity and financial objectives.
- Monitor labour costs, productivity, staffing levels and daily operational performance.
- Analyse operational issues and identify practical solutions and efficiencies before increasing labour or other costs.
- Support onboarding, training and leadership development across the hotel.
- Foster a positive, accountable and collaborative team culture.
- Lead improvements to internal systems, workflows and operational processes.
About You
You will be a proactive and practical leader who operates with integrity, leads by example and remains calm and solution focused under pressure. You will enjoy being involved in the operation, supporting managers and making common sense decisions that achieve strong outcomes for both guests and the business.
You will also have:
- Hospitality or management qualification, or equivalent industry experience
- 3-5 years demonstrated experience in a leadership role in a Hospitality venue (preferable Hotel)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in hospitality systems (PMS, POS, rostering, purchasing)
- Highly organised, hands-on, and commercially minded
- Thrive in a dynamic, fast paced setting while maintaining high standards
