The Insurance Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the implementation and ongoing management of the Insurance Risk Management Framework within the Council. This position is key to ensuring that insurance risks are effectively managed across the organisation and that practises align with relevant legislation and best practises.
Your responsibilities will include managing under-deductible insurance claims, assessing claims according to legislation and Council policies, and ensuring a customer-focused approach in all dealings. You will also assist with the renewal processes of the insurance portfolio and engage in research to inform stakeholders about emerging risks and changes within the insurance landscape.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in claims management, along with an understanding of insurance policies and legislation. We seek a proactive individual who can operate effectively in a dynamic environment and contribute positively to our team culture.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (for example in insurance and/or finance) and/or extensive insurance claims management experience.
- A current Driver's Licence.
- Demonstrated ability to provide customer-focused support in claims handling.
- Knowledge of the Civil Liability Act 2002 and Australian Road Rules.
- Strong planning and organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to foster effective relationships both internally and externally.
- Identify opportunities to reduce ongoing risk and support the development and implementation of effective mitigation strategies

- Package: $82,602-$87,556 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
- Hours of work: Permanent Full Time. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system.
