About the role
The Team Leader – Maternal and Child Health (MCH) oversees and coordinates the day‑to‑day operations of the MCH service, ensuring all activities align with legislative requirements, professional standards, and funding and service agreements. In this leadership role, you will drive the ongoing development and implementation of a high‑quality, family‑centred service that supports healthy children and families.
You will guide, support and motivate a dedicated and skilled team of MCH nurses, championing family‑centred practice and fostering reflective, collaborative approaches to service delivery. Working closely with the broader Family & Children’s Services teams, your leadership ensures the delivery of the best possible outcomes for families and children across the community.

This is a permanent part-time role based at Knox Civic Centre, working 4 days per week.
This is an MCH Team Leader classified role. Remuneration will be $133,229.14 (pro rata for part time) plus allowances, and superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will bring to this role
The key selection criteria for this role are:
- AHPRA registration — current registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, along with a recognised qualification in Maternal and Child Health.
- Collaborative spirit — you thrive in multidisciplinary environments, building genuine partnerships across allied health teams and the wider organisation to deliver integrated, high‑quality support for families.
- MCH expertise — substantive experience in Maternal and Child Health service delivery.
- Clinical leadership excellence — you bring proven experience in clinical nursing leadership and a strong commitment to safe, high‑quality care, inspiring your team to uphold best practice every day.
- Operational capability — you are skilled at coordinating the daily complexities of a clinical service, ensuring smooth operations and responsive support for families.
- Governance and accountability — you understand the importance of compliance, governance and legislative requirements, ensuring the MCH service operates with integrity and clarity.
- One‑team leadership — you work collaboratively with the Child, Family, Health and Wellbeing team and the broader Family & Children’s Services workforce, strengthening a unified, values‑driven approach to supporting families.
- Insightful problem‑solving — you apply strong analytical skills and evidence‑based frameworks to navigate challenges and guide thoughtful, effective decision‑making.
- Mentorship and empowerment — you lead with purpose, mentoring and motivating the MCH team to identify opportunities, innovate, and deliver meaningful outcomes for children and families.
