Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Trade Waste Officer to administer and oversee Council's Liquid Trade Waste Program. This role plays a critical part in protecting Council's wastewater infrastructure, public health and the environment through the assessment and management of liquid trade waste approvals, compliance activities and stakeholder engagement.
- Permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week).
- Remuneration package of $3,059.14 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $3,670.97 gross per fortnight + 12% superannuation.

Duties of this position will include, but are not limited to
As the Trade Waste Officer, you will:
- Administer Council's Liquid Trade Waste Policy, including assessing applications and managing approvals.
- Conduct inspections, audits and compliance monitoring activities.
- Investigate environmental and liquid trade waste breaches.
- Assess and negotiate trade waste licences and agreements.
- Calculate and administer applicable fees and charges.
- Maintain legislative compliance systems, databases, records and reporting processes.
- Prepare correspondence, reports and annual regulatory reporting.
- Provide timely and professional customer service to businesses, contractors and stakeholders.
- Support the safe, efficient and environmentally responsible management of trade waste within the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Qualifications and / or experience relevant to the role, such as a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations or treatment plant operations.
- A current Class C Driver's Licence.
- General Construction Induction Training (White Card).
- Experience in environmental sampling, monitoring, field testing, wastewater operations or effluent pre-treatment systems.
- Strong administrative, planning and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
- Well-developed communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A strong commitment to customer service, safety and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Water Industry Operations (Trade Waste) or the willingness and ability to obtain.
- Attendance at the NSW Wastewater Operator Training Course and Update Seminar.
