Why this role matters:

Through the delivery of daily animal care and feeding, this role plays a key part in maintaining animal welfare and enabling high-quality scientific research.

What you’ll do in this role:

Provide husbandry and animal care support across aquatic (including Zebrafish), aviary, wildlife and rodent facilities, including sanitisation, plant maintenance, and water quality monitoring.
Ensure animals are fed daily in accordance with all feeding protocols.
Monitor animal health and wellbeing daily, ensuring appropriate care, clean food and water, and an enriched living environment
Maintain accurate records of animal history and related data as required.
Support ethical animal care and use by maintaining accurate records and compliance with animal ethics and regulatory requirements.

To be successful, you’ll have:

Completion of an Associate Diploma level qualifications with relevant work experience or a certificate level qualification with post-certificate relevant work experience.
Completion of a post-Trades Certificate or Advanced Certificate and extensive relevant and on the job training; or
An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated experience in the care of animals e.g aquatic, avian, wildlife and rodent species.
Knowledge of animal use in research and teaching in a broad range.
Availability to work outside business hours, weekends, public holidays and on-call shifts
