Armidale Montessori Preschool is seeking an experienced and passionate Child Care Worker to join our Exceeding-rated Montessori preschool.
This is a hands-on education and care position working with children aged 2–6 years within our specialised Montessori environment. Working collaboratively with the Centre Director, Room Leaders and educational team, you will play an important role in supporting children's learning, wellbeing and development and in delivering a high-quality Montessori educational program.
About the Role
As a Child Care Worker / Early Childhood Educator, you will:
- Provide high-quality education and care for children in accordance with the Montessori philosophy, the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Framework.
- Support and implement engaging, child-led learning experiences that promote independence and holistic development.
- Supervise, engage and interact with children through meaningful learning experiences that support their individual development.
- Assist children with daily routines, including meals, personal care, rest and transitions throughout the day.
- Observe children's learning and development and contribute to documentation, observations and individual learning plans.
- Prepare, maintain and present Montessori learning materials and help ensure the classroom environment remains safe, organised, calm and engaging.
- Foster children's independence, confidence, social skills and emotional wellbeing.
- Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues through respectful and professional communication.
- Work collaboratively with Room Leaders, educators and other members of the educational team.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, reflective practice and continuous quality improvement.
- Support the inclusion and participation of children with diverse backgrounds, abilities and additional needs.
- Ensure compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, Child Safe Standards and service policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or a higher approved early childhood qualification.
- Relevant experience working in an early childhood education and care setting.
- Current NSW Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications, or willingness to obtain these prior to commencement.
- A sound understanding of the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework and Child Safe Standards.
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of an educational team.
- A genuine passion for providing high-quality early childhood education and care.
Highly Desirable
- Experience working in a Montessori early childhood setting is strongly preferred.
- Recognised Montessori training or a Montessori qualification is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and practical understanding of Montessori philosophy, materials and classroom environments.
- Knowledge of EarlyWorks or similar documentation platforms.
- Experience supporting children with additional needs.
- Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Armidale Montessori Preschool is a not-for-profit, community-managed early childhood service providing long day care and preschool education to children aged two to six years.
