Job Role: DevOps Observability Lead

Job Type: Permanent

Location: Sydney

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Observability Lead to drive observability, monitoring, and reliability initiatives across our AWS cloud platform. In this role, you will design and implement enterprise-scale monitoring solutions, define SRE best practices, and improve platform performance through proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident management.Key Responsibilities

Design and implement observability solutions for AWS cloud platforms, including EKS, Lambda, and SNS.
Define and maintain Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), monitoring standards, and alerting strategies.
Develop and manage centralized monitoring solutions using AWS CloudWatch.
Build dashboards and alerts for engineering, operations, and business stakeholders.
Lead incident monitoring, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement initiatives.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for observability and monitoring deployments.
Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and platform teams to improve system reliability and operational excellence.
Monitor application and infrastructure performance, ensuring high availability and scalability.
Drive continuous improvement of observability practices, automation, and operational processes.

Required Skills & Experience

8–12+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Operations, or Site Reliability Engineering.
Strong hands-on experience with AWS CloudWatch, Amazon EKS, AWS Lambda, and Amazon SNS.
Solid understanding of Observability, Monitoring, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
Experience defining SLIs, SLOs, monitoring frameworks, and alerting strategies.
Expertise in dashboard creation, incident management, and performance monitoring.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Skills

Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, or Dynatrace.
AWS or DevOps certifications.
Experience implementing cloud automation and operational best practices.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native architectures.
