$40.05 - $57.14 per hour + 12% super & salary packaging | Permanent Part Time 32 hours per week | Shellharbour Hospital (SHH) | REQ691106 | Applications close: 20 September 2026

The Diversional Therapist provides assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of therapeutic recreation interventions within the inpatient mental health rehabilitation setting. The role uses purposeful recreation to support consumers’ physical, cognitive, emotional and social recovery. The role promotes engagement in meaningful leisure and community participation activities, enhances independence and wellbeing, and contributes to goal-directed, person-centered outcomes as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Shellharbour Hospital is a busy acute care facility which provides emergency services, elective surgical services, general medicine, antenatal and primary family health care, satellite renal dialysis, and adolescent and adult mental health services on site. It's an accredited healthcare facility with the Australian Council on Health Care Standards (ACHS) and is recognised as providing a high standard of care to the community.

Located on the beautiful South Coast of NSW, Shellharbour is known for its spectacular coastal scenery and is only a little over a 1.5 hour drive from Sydney.

Bachelor Degree in Diversional Therapy/Recreational Therapy that provides eligibility for full membership of the Australian Recreational Therapy Association (ARTA)
