The Albury Office

The Albury office of Legal Aid is located in downtown Albury. The office is a busy mixed practice including specialist services who provide legal services to vulnerable people in Albury and surrounding towns. Albury is a thriving regional centre sitting on the northern bank of the Murray River. Albury is an agricultural and transport hub with an abundance of parklands including its botanic gardens and recreational facilities along the meandering course of the Murray River. About the Role

As Solicitor Grade I-III you’ll provide legal advice and representation to clients of Legal Aid NSW, including duty and casework service, in accordance with Legal Aid NSW policies and guidelines in order to contribute to the implementation of Legal Aid NSW’s mission to deliver high-quality legal services to our clients and to assist them to resolve their legal problems.

About You

You are a client-focused legal practitioner keen to provide high-quality legal advice and representation in a complex and fast-paced environment. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds, including vulnerable and disadvantaged communities, and to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and accessible manner.

You have sound organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and caseloads, and a strong understanding of working within legislative, policy and practice frameworks. You are confident using legal technology and case management systems, adaptable to change, and committed to continuous professional development. You are passionate about access to justice and contributing to positive outcomes for clients through high-quality service delivery, community engagement and collaboration.

Essential Requirements

Be admitted or eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW

Provide a current NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us

NSW Drivers Licence

Be willing to travel to regional and metropolitan offices as required

Hold Australian or NZ citizenship or Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing roles) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary roles)

Willingness to undertake relevant pre-employment checks such as Working with Children Check, Criminal Record Check, and Conduct Service Check
