About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Health Information Administration Officer to provide the overall maintenance of health care records at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in accordance with NSW Health Policy. This position works with confidential information and requires a strong commitment to current privacy laws and legislation to guard against loss, misuse and inappropriate access.
In this role, you will:

Provide an efficient, comprehensive Medical Record Service to all internal and external customers.

Assess and process applications for Release of Clinical Information in accordance with the NSW Health Privacy Manual for Health Information.

Create, maintain and discharge-compile health care records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Undertake accurate and timely scanning, retrieval, filing and electronic tracking of health care records.

Maintain and update patient administration and electronic medical record systems such as iPM and eMR.

Assist with decant and culling of health care records, and support training of new staff in policy and procedure.

About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Demonstrated experience working in a Health Information Service, or similar environment, with responsibility for maintaining client records and an understanding of record workflow such as creation, compilation, scanning, retrieval and tracking

Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and prioritise multiple competing tasks and achieve deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.

Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to the concept of privacy, especially as it relates to the release or sharing of personal health information.

Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise initiative.
-
Competency with a wide range of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and systems such as iPM and eMR, or the ability to quickly learn these.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and adapt to the different needs of individuals whilst applying a strong customer focus.
