Remote / Flexible

Freelance / Contract

Approximately 5–10 hours per week initially, with scope to grow

Pay

$35–$45 per hour, depending on experience, portfolio and demonstrated results

Job Summary

Anbar Academy is looking for a creative and commercially minded Freelance Social Media Marketer to take ownership of our social media presence.
You will have broad creative control over strategy, content, messaging and execution.
We want someone who brings ideas, tests formats and independently drives the social media direction.
The Founder will provide final approval before major content, campaigns or brand messaging goes live.

About Anbar Academy

Australian online tutoring academy providing personalised 1:1 education to secondary and HSC students.
Growth to date has largely come through referrals and word of mouth.
We are now looking to build a stronger digital presence and turn social media into a genuine channel for brand awareness, engagement and student enquiries.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and own Anbar Academy’s social media strategy.
Plan and manage a consistent content calendar.
Generate original content ideas for students, parents and the education market.
Create content for Instagram and Facebook and other relevant platforms.
Develop educational, informative, entertaining and promotional content.
Turn existing Anbar Academy resources and expertise into engaging social content.
Write captions, hooks, scripts and calls to action.
Create or coordinate graphics and visual content.
Schedule and publish approved content.
Identify relevant trends and adapt them appropriately for the Anbar Academy brand.
Build content around HSC exams, assessments, subject selection and study periods.
Develop campaigns designed to increase brand awareness and enquiries.
Test different formats, concepts and messaging.
Monitor reach, engagement, follower growth and enquiries.
Review performance data and adjust strategy accordingly.
Provide the Founder with clear recommendations on what is working and what should be tested next.

Creative Control

Full ownership of day-to-day social media strategy and creative direction.
Freedom to bring forward and develop ideas without waiting for detailed instructions.
Freedom to experiment with content formats, messaging and campaigns.
Ability to recommend changes to brand and social media direction.
Opportunity to challenge ideas you do not believe will perform.
Founder provides final sign-off on significant content, campaigns and brand messaging.
Minimal approval layers and no micromanagement.

What We’re Looking For

Experience in social media marketing, content creation or digital marketing.
Strong understanding of Instagram and TikTok.
Ability to create engaging short-form video content.
Strong understanding of hooks, retention and social engagement.
Strong copywriting skills.
Good visual judgement and attention to detail.
Experience with Canva and/or relevant design tools.
Experience with CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro or similar video editing software.
Ability to develop a consistent brand tone and visual direction.
Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
Understanding of how social media can contribute to enquiries and business growth.
Ability to interpret analytics and make decisions based on performance.
Reliable communication and ability to meet agreed deadlines.

Meta Ads or TikTok Ads experience.
Photography or videography skills.
Experience developing brand guidelines or social media identities.
Understanding of SEO, email marketing or landing pages.
Experience working directly with founders or small businesses.

How We Will Work Together

You develop the strategy and ideas.
You create or prepare the content.
Major content or campaigns are presented for final review.
The Founder provides final approval or necessary business feedback.
You publish, monitor performance and continue improving the strategy.

Hours

Approximately 5–10 hours per week initially.
Flexible hours and remote work.
Work can largely be completed around your own schedule.
Scope for hours and responsibilities to increase as Anbar Academy grows.
We care more about output, consistency and results than fixed working hours.
