The Paediatric ENT Unaccredited Trainee position at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, is available for the 2027 Clinical Year, from 01 February 2027 to 06 February 2028. The position provides an opportunity to further develop paediatric ENT skills in the spheres of clinical care, surgical procedures, education and supervision under the supervision of consultant paediatric ENT surgeons. Responsibilities include providing surgical ENT support to the patients of paediatric Staff Specialists and Visiting Medical Officers, and emergency support to the patients in all clinical areas of Sydney Children’s Hospital (SCH) including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, inpatient and outpatient areas. There is a consultative role for neonates at the Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) and a cross appointment to Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH). The Trainee will have a role in teaching junior medical officers, nurses and undergraduates.
Accredited ENT trainees and consultants (Staff Specialists and VMOs) are on site during the day and available after hours as required. It is a requirement of this position that the Trainee will be ava ilable to participate in scheduled shift work rosters and a sick relief on-call roster. This involves cross coverage at POWH. Trainees may also be required to work reasonable rostered overtime hours as required by the clinical service, including being available for patient handover and on-call duties, in accordance with the Award. This position is not accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).

Selection Criteria:
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Minimum three years postgraduate experience
- Between two and four years ENT experience
- Possession of primary FRACS (successful pass in GSSE). Evidence of having passed the GSSE is essential.
- Evidence of clinical and/or laboratory research and demonstrated ability to teach. Please provide an example
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team to ensure the appropriate management of the patient. Please provide an example
- Proven ability to organise, plan and manage competing tasks. Please provide an example
