Full Job Description

Griffin Marine Services is a leading marine service provider specialising in multi-disciplinary industrial services and project management. With a focus on proactive and professional support, we are committed to delivering high-quality and trustworthy service.

Position Overview:

As a Painter / Blaster, you will be responsible for surface preparation, abrasive blasting, and the application of protective coatings to marine vessels and infrastructure. You will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare steel and other surfaces using abrasive blasting, mechanical preparation and other surface treatment methods
Apply protective coatings using spray, brush and roller techniques
Perform painting and blasting on marine vessels, Defence assets and industrial infrastructure
Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality and project specifications
Safely operate and maintain painting and blasting equipment
Read and interpret work instructions, drawings and coating specifications
Follow all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures, including correct PPE usage
Work collaboratively to deliver projects safely, efficiently and on schedule
Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment

About You

Minimum 2 years’ experience in industrial painting, abrasive blasting and protective coating applications
Certificate III in Surface Preparation (desirable)
Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices, including PPE requirements
Physically fit and capable of performing manual, labour-intensive work in industrial environments
Reliable team player with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
Current White Card and valid Australian Driver’s Licence
Eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Common Access Card (DCAC)
Confined Space, Working at Heights, EWP, Forklift and Fire Sentry tickets (desirable)
