THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our production team on a permanent, full-time basis. This hands-on role supports the manufacture of our specialist product range and requires a high degree of precision, technical competence, and a commitment to quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Create computer-based CAM programs based on supplied engineering drawings
- Program and edit CNC programs at the CNC machine controller
- Coordinate with consulting mechanical engineers
- Set up and operate CNC machines
- Perform quality checks and dimensional inspection to ensure components meet required tolerances
- Diagnose and rectify machine faults using appropriate tools and procedures
- Collaborate effectively within the production team and contribute to a positive workplace culture
- Complete all required production records, job cards, and quality documentation accurately
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute problem-solving input to the team
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
To be considered for this position, candidates must be able to demonstrate:
Technical Skills
- Relevant associate degree, advanced diploma or diploma or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
- Be very proficient and have proven experience in Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) programming for CNC machine tools
- Hands on manual and CNC machining experience using milling machines and lathes
- Sound knowledge of machine operating procedures and safe work practices
- Experience with dimensional inspection tools (micrometers, verniers, gauges)
- Understanding of material properties relevant to machined components

- Mechanically minded with sound practical judgement
- Solid basic mathematics skills, including measurement and tolerances

- Ability to handle heavy equipment safely and in compliance with WHS requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to reliably commute to, or willingness to relocate to, St Marys NSW 2760 prior to commencement (required)
- Australian work rights (required)
- Trade qualification in engineering/machining or equivalent demonstrated experience (preferred)
