About the Role:
Children across Adelaide's north deserve communication support that is grounded in cultural understanding and delivered with genuine care. If you are a Speech Pathologist who brings both clinical skill and a commitment to working alongside Aboriginal families, this contract role within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) offers meaningful, community-connected work until 1 October 2027.
What You'll Be Doing
Sitting within the NALHN Watto Purrunna Primary Health Care team, you will deliver paediatric speech pathology services designed to meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families across the northern Adelaide metro region.
Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments for paediatric clients within an Aboriginal Health framework
Design and implement culturally responsive intervention plans in collaboration with families, carers, and the broader multidisciplinary team
Build and maintain trusted relationships with Aboriginal community members, Elders, and partner agencies to support holistic, family-centred care
Contribute to service planning and continuous improvement within the Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Health Service
What You'll Bring
Qualified Speech Pathologist with current Speech Pathology Australia membership eligibility
Demonstrated experience in paediatric caseloads, including speech, language, fluency, or feeding presentations
Proven ability to deliver culturally safe services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively across multidisciplinary and community settings
Familiarity with SA Health or public health service environments is highly regarded
Current driver's licence suitable for community-based service delivery across northern Adelaide
To be eligible for this position, you must have an Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Primary Health Care Services – provides culturally responsive primary healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in-hospital and across four community sites.
Primary Health Care Services – including GP Plus sites at Elizabeth, Modbury and Gilles Plains.
