The venue is recognised for delivering consistent, high-quality café and bistro-style cuisine, supported by a strong focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and efficient kitchen operations. Within this operating environment, Chefs and Cooks play a central role in maintaining food quality, production consistency, and service efficiency, ensuring the venue can sustain high-volume trade demands while upholding its established culinary standards and customer experience expectations. As part of the company's growth strategy, Salt N Spice Group Pty Ltd are seeking to hire skilled, Full-Time Cooks and Chefs in a permanent position, to help drive operational excellence, mentor kitchen talent, and uphold the restaurant’s reputation for consistency and innovation in food delivery.
The position offers a salary range of AUD $75,000 to AUD $85,000 per annum plus superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience. The remuneration reflects current market conditions and the level of responsibility associated with operating within a busy, high-turnover kitchen that demands technical competence, reliability, and strong service delivery outcomes.
Scope of the Work:
- Overseeing daily kitchen operations, including staff delegation, stock rotation, and maintaining accurate records.
- Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, either regularly or for special functions and events.
- Managing production schedules and staff requirements to ensure timely service delivery.
- Estimating food supply needs, calculating costs for ingredients, and managing orders accordingly.
- Inspecting supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
- Analysing recipes and advising prices to menu items based on food, labour, and overhead costs.
- Working closely with team members to execute established recipes and menus with consistency and precision, ensuring alignment with seasonal availability and anticipated customer volume.
- Demonstrating new cooking techniques and introducing equipment to staff for continual culinary improvement.
- Oversee workstation readiness by ensuring mise en place is complete, equipment is functional, and kitchen operations are primed for service efficiency and food quality standards.
- Prepare and cook dishes in strict compliance with food safety and health regulations, ensuring the highest quality and hygiene standards are maintained.
- Assist in onboarding, training, and supervising new team members, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative, efficient work environment.
- Monitoring and enforcing sanitation practices to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including Occupational Health and Safety (WHS) and HACCP.
To be considered for this role, you should:
- Be willing to relocate if you are interstate or in other cities.
- Preferably have Certificates III & IV in Commercial Cookery
- Be available on both days at weekends and be able to work split shifts.
- Have at least 2- 3 years of work experience as a Cook/Chef.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Exceptional communication skills.
