Full Job Description

We are seeking a Ward Clerk to work in a part time (16 hours/fortnight) capacity based at Iona Digby Harris Home Nhill.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Ward Clerk provides frontline reception across the aged care facility. The position performs a range of administrative support tasks to assist and ensure the efficient functioning of the Health Service.
The Ward Clerk is required to be discreet, work well under pressure and promote a professional and caring environment through excellent customer service, and have a good working relationship with the Nurse Unit Manager and nursing staff.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

Have effective communication and organisational skills.
The ability to work in a highly productive environment with time pressures whilst managing multiple tasks.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate with the public and a high level of customer service skills.
Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Desirable:

Cert III in Business Administration or similar is desirable.
A sound knowledge of medical terminology.
Nursing background, but not essential.

PRE-REQUISITES:

NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
Working with Children Check.
Fully vaccinated (including influenza) as per current Department of Health Directives.
Australian Driver’s License.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

Assist the Nurse Unit Manager to implement and maintain streamlined
administration processes.
Assist with the support and orientation of new staff members.
Ensure all residents are correctly documented within their relevant software systems.
Manage enquiries from clients, families, and members of the community.
