The Child Wellbeing Unit is a small but highly effective team dedicated to supporting the ongoing care, safety and protection of children. About the Role

As a member of the Child Wellbeing Unit, you will provide specialist guidance and support to health staff across a range of child wellbeing and protection matters.

You will:

Guide health staff in identifying and responding to child protection risks and vulnerabilities.
Assist with planning appropriate interventions and coordinating additional support services.
Support health workers to provide an integrated response to Domestic and Family Violence.
Assess when reports to the Child Protection Helpline are required.
Facilitate safe, timely and effective information sharing across relevant agencies.
Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated and experienced multidisciplinary team.

This position reports to the Manager – Northern Child Wellbeing Unit.

About You

We are looking for a compassionate and confident professional who can apply sound judgement when assessing child protection risks and provide expert guidance to clinicians.

You will:

Hold a relevant Bachelor degree or applicable AHPRA registration
Provide confident and informed advice regarding child wellbeing and protection concerns.
Coach and support clinicians to identify and respond to risk and vulnerability.
Build positive and collaborative relationships with health professionals and external agencies.
Manage competing priorities effectively in a demanding environment.
Contribute positively to a supportive, knowledgeable and team-focused workplace.

What you'll be doing

Undertake child protection and wellbeing risk assessments and provide telephone advice, support and education to health workers on all aspects of child protection and wellbeing.
