About the Opportunity

As a Casual Registered Nurse within our Dialysis and Infusion Services, you'll work across a diverse and rewarding clinical environment. Our Dialysis Unit is a six-chair service operating six days per week (Monday to Saturday), while our four-chair Infusion Unit provides treatment services on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Depending on your previous experience and service requirements, there may also be opportunities to work across other areas of the hospital, providing valuable exposure to a broad range of clinical settings.
At Muswellbrook Hospital, you'll be supported to build your confidence and specialist knowledge from day one. Dialysis orientation includes two weeks of dedicated training at either Maitland or John Hunter Hospital Dialysis Units alongside the Dialysis Educator, followed by supported shifts and orientation within the Muswellbrook service. Ongoing support is provided by the Dialysis Clinical Nurse Educator, Muswellbrook Clinical Nurse Educator team and Clinical Nurse Manager. For nurses working within the Infusion Unit, orientation includes two weeks at Tamworth Oncology Unit with the District Cancer Services Educator, followed by local orientation and ongoing support from our Oncology Educator. Additional support is available through the Cancer Care Coordinator, Muswellbrook Clinical Nurse Manager and the broader Cancer Services team. As a rural facility, Muswellbrook Hospital also benefits from access to medical officer support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring a collaborative and well-supported clinical environment.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based and person-centred care to patients receiving haemodialysis and infusion therapies while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver safe, effective and compassionate nursing care.
- Advocate for patients and support positive health outcomes.
- Monitor, assess and respond to changes in patient conditions.
- Administer treatments and therapies in accordance with clinical protocols and best practice standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary team members.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Utilise your clinical expertise to support safe and efficient patient care delivery.
- Work across other clinical areas of the hospital where appropriate, based on your experience and service needs.

Essential requirements
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
Recent experience in acute care nursing.
Demonstrated experience in an in-charge nursing capacity.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A compassionate, patient-focused approach to care.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Recent experience in haemodialysis nursing.
Experience administering chemotherapy.
Completion of the Cancer Institute NSW eviQ Antineoplastic Drug Administration Course (ADAC), or willingness to complete.
Ability to adapt to a variety of clinical environments and support multiple services across the hospital.
