The Opportunity
Mountain View Retirement Village is a vibrant community set on 28 acres of lush rainforest in the Tweed Valley, offering the peace of a rural retreat just 3.5km from Murwillumbah town centre. As a Cook, you’ll assist with preparing high-quality, nutritious meals that enhance the daily lives of our residents. Working in a supportive environment, you’ll follow menu plans, dietary requirements, and food safety standards, whilst having the opportunity to build meaningful connections with residents.
This is a Permanent Part-Time role working Monday; Tuesday; Saturday and Sunday (9:00am-5:00pm)
Your Impact
- Prepare, cook, and present meals that meet quality and presentation standards
- Follow pre-set menu plans while accommodating dietary needs and preferences
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen in line with food safety requirements
- Support stock control, food storage, and waste minimisation practices
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Build meaningful connections with residents, fostering a sense of community and belonging
What you'll bring
- Previous Kitchenhand, Cook or Chef in a similar setting (e.g. hospitality or commercial kitchens)
- Ability to follow set menus and adapt meals to meet dietary requirements
- Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in connecting with residents
- Enthusiasm for working in retirement living and making a positive impact
- Minimum of two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations (required)
- Certificate in Commercial Cookery (or similar) and/or Food Safety certification (desirable)
What we offer
- Weekday Rates: $30.34/hr + superannuation + relevant award entitlements including penalty rates, overtime and allowances
- Saturday Rates: $45.51/hr + superannuation + relevant award entitlements including penalty rates, overtime and allowances
- Sunday Rates: $53.10/hr + superannuation + relevant award entitlements including penalty rates, overtime and allowances
