Church Street Veterinary Hospital, Mudgee | Full-Time Practice Manager
People leadership | Business growth | Operational excellence
You don’t need a veterinary background to be a great Practice Manager. We’re looking for a people leader who enjoys bringing teams together, developing others, improving how things work and helping a business grow. Church Street Veterinary Hospital is entering an exciting new chapter, and this is an opportunity to help shape it.
About Church Street
Based in beautiful Mudgee, Church Street Veterinary Hospital is an established practice with a close-knit team of four vets and five nurses, led clinically by Lead Veterinarian Dr Tom Prichard. We work from a lovely, well-equipped hospital with fantastic facilities for both our patients and our team. We’re entering a period of growth and change, including expanded surgical capabilities, investment in new technology and AI-supported systems, and a renewed focus on building the capability of our people and our business. That’s where you come in!
The Opportunity
This isn't a role for someone who simply wants to maintain a roster and keep the doors open. We’re looking for someone who gets satisfaction from asking: How could we do this better?
Working alongside Dr Tom and the broader team, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day leadership and operational performance of the practice, helping create a workplace where people know what’s expected, feel supported to grow and enjoy working together.
What you'll be doing
Working alongside our Lead Veterinarian in:
-
Leading, supporting and developing our veterinary and nursing teams
-
Building a positive, accountable and collaborative clinic culture
-
Improving systems, workflows and everyday operational efficiency
-
Workforce planning, rostering and ensuring our resources match the needs of the clinic
-
Supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance and retention
-
Working with the clinical team to support new services and technology and growth opportunities
Who we're looking for
Veterinary experience is valuable, but not essential. You could be an experienced Practice Manager, Lead Nurse or veterinary professional ready for your next step. Or you may come from healthcare, allied health, retail, hospitality or another service-based environment where you’ve led people and managed operations.
What matters most is how you lead. We’re looking for someone who:
-
Is a genuine people leader who builds trust and brings people together
-
Enjoys coaching, mentoring and developing others
-
Can have clear, constructive conversations when needed
-
Is naturally curious about how a business operates and is comfortable balancing team member, client and commercial priorities
-
Embraces technology and change
- Wants to make a meaningful contribution to a clinic and the community it serves.
What we can offer
-
One of the great things about this role is that you get the autonomy and connection of leading a local veterinary practice without having to figure everything out by yourself. As part of Vets Central, you'll have access to specialist support across People & Culture, Marketing, Operations, Recruitment, IT and Finance.
-
We're also passionate about developing our leaders. Our Learning & Development offering includes Elevate, our bespoke internal leadership development program designed to help our leaders continue building their skills and confidence.
-
Quarterly Performance Bonus: Be rewarded for your significant contributions to our clinics' success and development
-
Practice Manager Development Meetings: Participate in regular meetings with Vets Central support office and peers to enhance your professional growth.
-
Mental Health & Wellbeing: Benefit from our accreditation as a ‘Skilled Mental Health First Aid®’ workplace, focusing on mental health and work-life balance.
-
Paid Parental and Purrental Leave: Receive paid leave for both human and furry family members.
-
Great Work/Life Balance: Enjoy a supportive and balanced work environment that prioritizes your well-being.
Why Mudgee?
Of course, there's also the location. Mudgee offers the kind of lifestyle that's increasingly hard to find — a thriving regional community, renowned food and wine, beautiful countryside and plenty happening locally, without the congestion and pace of a major city.
