Based in Brisbane, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Central Laboratory in Darra as a Trainee Laboratory Technician.
This is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your career in laboratory testing while gaining a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques. ABC Training & Consulting will provide the formal certification through a combination of theory-based learning and practical onsite assessments, giving you the opportunity to develop both your technical knowledge and hands-on skills.
Your Opportunity
Our laboratory performs testing for the construction industry, providing critical technical support across our cement, concrete and related products.
As a Trainee Laboratory Technician, you will rotate through different laboratory stations at regular intervals, building your knowledge and practical skills across a range of testing activities. You will receive hands-on training while completing your Certificate IV and working alongside experienced laboratory professionals.
As a Trainee Laboratory Technician, you will:
- Carry out routine testing of cement, concrete and related products
- Learn and perform manual testing methods
- Develop skills in chemical analysis
- Learn how to operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment
- Conduct analysis as part of investigations
- Interpret data and develop your technical problem-solving skills
- Maintain high standards of laboratory housekeeping
- Learn and apply laboratory procedures and quality requirements
- Contribute to a safe, collaborative and positive work environment

- A willingness and commitment to complete a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- The ability to follow procedures and work safely
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
- Initiative and accountability in your work
Previous experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, construction, mining or other industrial environment will be advantageous but is not essential.
