As we continue to grow, we’re seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Travel Billing Executive/Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team on a part-time or full time basis.
Job Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with a strong Indian accounting background and exceptional Microsoft Excel skills to manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks for our travel agency. This role is perfect for someone who has worked in a Chartered Accountant (CA) firm in India and is familiar with Indian accounting software and practices while being able to adapt to Australian systems.
Please note: A comprehensive Microsoft Excel skills test will be conducted during the interview to assess your proficiency level.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping & Financial Records
- Maintain accurate day-to-day bookkeeping records for travel transactions
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly profit & loss (P&L) reports and financial statements
- Generate regular and ad-hoc financial reports for management review
- Assist with cash flow management and financial forecasting
- Support end-of-financial-year reconciliations and prepare audit workpapers
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities
Vendor & Supplier Management
- Liaise with Indian and international travel suppliers and vendors
- Coordinate payment schedules and maintain vendor relationships
- Manage supplier invoices and expense tracking
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders in Hindi/Punjabi as required
Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and internal policies
- Assist in preparation for internal and external audits
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
- Process invoicing, billing, and customer payments using Xero accounting software
- Perform bank reconciliations, cash reconciliations, and credit card reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable and maintain supplier records
- Handle data entry, filing, and documentation with high accuracy
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related field (BCom, MCom, or CA qualification preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, preferably in a CA firm in India
- Must have worked with Indian accounting software such as Tally ERP, Busy, Zoho Books, or similar platforms
- Experience adapting to Australian accounting systems (Xero experience highly regarded)
Technical Skills – CRITICAL
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (mandatory):
- Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas
- Data analysis and financial modeling
- Conditional formatting and data validation
- Excel proficiency will be tested during the interview
- Familiarity with Xero accounting software (training can be provided for the right candidate)
- Understanding of GST, tax compliance, and reconciliation processes
- Experience with Indian accounting frameworks and practices

Language Requirements
- Hindi or Punjabi language proficiency is mandatory for vendor communication
- Professional English communication skills (written and spoken)
