Care Aide, Social Centre

We have an immediate opportunity for experienced and passionate community support workers to join Silver Chain Group in the position of Care Aide at our Margaret River Social Centre on a permanent, part-time basis.

We are seeking applicants with availability to work between the hours of 0800 - 1600, each Tuesday and Thursday. 30 hours per fortnight. Applicants will need to demonstrate flexibility and commitment to shifts on offer to ensure continuity of services to our clients.

The Role

Our Care Aides deliver exceptional care and support to our clients, enhancing and encouraging their ability to participate in their own care to maintain their independence. Responsibilities can include skin care, toileting, general hygiene, grooming, dressing, fitting and removal of pressure stockings, mobility, fluid intake, feeding, meal preparation, respite and assisting with medication. Support may also be required with general housekeeping, social support and basic first aid.

You will be required to have a full clean drivers license for this role and be comfortable to drive our van/bus for transporting clients. Some Care Aide work in the community will also be required.

Duties include:

Activity Planning and Facilitation: Designing and running engaging group activities, such as arts and crafts, gentle exercise classes, quizzes, music therapy, and board games
Emotional Support and Companionship: Providing a listening ear, meaningful conversation, and emotional support to reduce loneliness and foster a welcoming environment
Social Outings: Accompanying clients on excursions, group walks, or community events, and sometimes coordinating safe transportation to and from the centre
Basic Personal Care: Assisting clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, which may include help with eating, grooming, or using the bathroom
Meal and Refreshment Assistance: Helping to prepare, serve, or supervise morning teas, lunches, and hydration, while catering to specific dietary or swallowing requirements
Client Monitoring and Reporting: Observing participants for any changes in physical health, cognitive function, or emotional wellbeing, and reporting these to centre coordinators or family members
Safety and Maintenance: Assisting clients with mobility (e.g., using walking frames or wheelchairs) and ensuring the centre's environment remains clean, hazard-free, and accessible
Wellbeing Observations: Monitor physical and cognitive changes, such as shifts in mood, mobility, or memory, and report concerns to supervisors or health professionals
Medication: Provide non-clinical medication prompts and reminders according to the client's care plan
Documentation: Keep accurate records of attendance, the types of activities participated in, and any incidents that occur during the day

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support, HACC or Disability.
Experience delivering low, moderate and complex care, preferably within the community.
Fantastic interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
Solid working knowledge of the Wellness Approach (HACC) and understand the concept of early intervention and restorative care.
Satisfactory national Police Certificate (on commencement of employment and updated every three years per the Aged Care Act 1997).
Current motor vehicle driver’s licence (with no restrictions) and access to a reliable registered motor vehicle with a minimum of third party insurance.
