Turf Installer / Landscaping Labourer
Casual Position | Cairns, Far North Queensland
Tropical Lawns is seeking a reliable and hardworking Casual Turf Installer to join our growing installation team.
Working as part of a three-person turf installation crew, you will install premium turf across residential and commercial properties throughout the Cairns region. This is a hands-on outdoor role suited to someone who enjoys physical work, working as part of a team, and taking pride in delivering quality results.
About the Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing turf at domestic and commercial properties to company quality standards
- Preparing, laying, cutting, joining, and finishing turf professionally
- Handling turf products safely to minimise damage and wastage
- Using hand tools, turf rollers, and installation equipment
- Applying fertilisers safely in accordance with company procedures
- Maintaining clean, safe, and professional worksites
- Communicating respectfully with customers, supervisors, and team members
- Following all workplace health and safety procedures
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current driver’s licence (essential)
- The ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work
- A strong work ethic and reliable attendance
- Good attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
- The ability to work well within a small team
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Experience is not essential — we are willing to train the right person who demonstrates reliability, commitment, and the right attitude.

Requirements
- Current driver’s licence
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to complete manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving turf
- Willingness to work early starts and additional hours during busy periods
