KSC1 Careers and Pathways Knowledge
Demonstrated knowledge of career development principles and senior secondary pathways, including VCE, VCE VM, VET, School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships, tertiary education, training and employment pathways, with the capacity to provide accurate and appropriate advice to students and families.
KSC2 Student Support and Career Counselling
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and provide individualised careers and pathway support, including career counselling, subject selection, Career Action Plans, transition planning and support for students at risk of disengagement.
KSC3 Organisation, Administration and Compliance
Highly developed organisational and administrative skills, including the capacity to coordinate careers, work experience and pathway programs, maintain accurate student records, manage documentation and compliance requirements, and meet competing deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
KSC4 Communication, Collaboration and Partnerships
Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with students, families, school staff, employers, Registered Training Organisations, tertiary providers and community organisations to support successful student pathways and transitions.
Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Position Purpose
The Careers Practitioner supports students to make informed career, pathway and post-school decisions by providing high-quality careers education, pathway guidance and administrative support. The role works collaboratively with students, families, teaching staff, external providers, employers and tertiary institutions to coordinate career development programs and ensure students successfully transition into further education, training or employment.
The Careers Practitioner is responsible for coordinating operational aspects of careers and pathways programs while providing individualised support to students across Years 7¿12.
Student Career Development
Provide individual career counselling and pathway advice to students.
Assist students to develop Career Action Plans (CAPs).
Support students to identify appropriate senior secondary pathways including VCE, VCE VM, VET and School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs).
Assist students with subject selection and post-school planning.
Support students applying for tertiary education, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment opportunities.
Conduct career interviews with students and families.
Careers Education
Assist with the planning and delivery of careers education programs across Years 7¿12.
Develop resources that support career exploration and pathway planning.
Coordinate career information sessions, guest speakers and industry presentations.
Promote career development opportunities through newsletters, Compass and other communication platforms.
Work Experience and Workplace Learning
Coordinate the school's Work Experience Program.
Ensure all Work Experience documentation complies with Department requirements.
Liaise with employers regarding placements.
Support students to source suitable placements.
Monitor placement completion and maintain accurate records.
Coordinate workplace learning requirements associated with VCE VM where required.
VET and SBAT Support
Assist with enrolments into external VET programs.
Liaise with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
Support administration associated with SBATs.
Maintain accurate student records relating to VET and workplace learning.
Pathways Administration
Maintain accurate student pathway records.
Assist with VASS and pathway-related administration.
Coordinate permission forms, applications and required documentation.
Maintain careers and destination databases.
Prepare reports and data for leadership.
Tertiary and Industry Partnerships
Develop relationships with universities, TAFEs, RTOs, local businesses, industry groups, employment agencies and community organisations.
Coordinate careers expos, tertiary visits and industry excursions.
Promote scholarships, cadetships and employment opportunities.
Student Transition Support
Support students transitioning into senior secondary pathways, further education, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.
Assist students identified as being at risk of disengagement by connecting them with appropriate pathway options.
Parent and Community Engagement
Provide careers information to parents and carers.
Conduct pathway information evenings.
Respond to parent enquiries.
Maintain effective communication with families.
General Responsibilities
Maintain confidentiality of student information.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, wellbeing staff and leadership.
Participate in relevant professional learning.
Maintain knowledge of VCE, VCE VM, VET, VTAC and labour market trends.
Undertake other duties consistent with ES Range 4.

Qualifications and Experience (Desirable)
Qualifications in Careers Education, Career Development, Education, Human Resources or a related field.
Membership of CICA or CDAA.
Experience working within secondary education, careers, employment services or youth pathways.

Clyde Secondary College opened in January 2022. Our current enrolment is 1378 students and is expected to continue to grow. In 2026 we saw the inclusion of Year 11 students, with Year 12 commencing in 2027.
