ESS provides multi-service capability to major companies and organisations operating in remote sites, gold mines and coal fields. We provide vital workplace support for people working in some of the most isolated terrains in the world, from oil rigs in the North Sea to gold mines in the Australian Outback.
We have exciting opportunities for trade qualified Chefs to work at our mining accommodation village at Reedy Creek in the Surat Basin region.
Roster is 14 days on 7 days off, working 10 hour days. This role is FIFO ex Brisbane or DIDO ex Toowoomba and surrounds. Locals are encouraged to apply.

These positions requires bulk cooking experience within a high-volume environment. As an ESS Line Chef you will ensure we deliver high quality catering and support services to our client. Your passion for exceptional customer service, genuine commitment to safety and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team are essential for you to succeed in this role.
The Role
- Work collaboratively with a team of Chefs, Kitchen Utilities and Dining Room employees
- Buffet style bulk cooking for Breakfast and Crib Lunch, or Dinner and Desserts
- Ensure OH&S compliance, adhering to safe work practices and food handling procedures
- Ensure all catering controls are in place, and wastage is kept to the minimum
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, infection control and cleanliness in accordance with Compass standards
- Assist Head Chefs in managing team performance and employee development
The Person
- Minimum Cert III in Commercial Cookery
- Bulk Catering Experience
- Experience working in remote locations on roster arrangements (desirable)
- Excellent knowledge of all kitchen procedures and operations
- Experience in menu writing, rostering and cost control
- Experience with hygienic work practices and appropriate HACCP guidelines
