The Registered Nurse is responsible for:
- The provision of person-centred quality care to clinical trial patients;
- Coordinating and effectively managing a cancer clinical trial portfolio.
- Providing the highest standard of nursing care, education, advice and support to cancer clinical trial patients.
- Ensuring the conduct of clinical trials is in accordance with relevant clinical trial regulations and guidelines (incl ICH GCP, TGA Note for Guidance on GCP and NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Research Involving humans)
- Set up and manage clinical trial documentation, patient recruitment, assessment and planning of patientcare in accordance with the trial protocol and regulatory/ institutional guidelines.
- Data management activities including source data entry, clinical data extraction and transcription of data to a variety of trial databases.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Working in therapeutic and professional relationships with individuals, as well as families, groups and communities.
- Assisting in the provision of supervision and support for less experienced staff and maintaining professional accountability and development in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia’s Standards of Practice.
- All staff are expected to act as an appropriate and effective role model and promote culture and supporting practices that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment through demonstrated behaviours and interactions with patients, clients and employees.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

- Current AHPRA Registration
- Recent clinical experience in a health care setting or clinical trial role, with an interest in Medical Oncology, Haematology and/or Radiation Oncology.
- Venepuncture and cannulation skills, or desire to work toward same.
