About the role:
Assist with the provision of high quality meals to consumers in accordance with quality assurance standards and the policies and procedures of Barunga Village.
Support the Catering Services Manager and other kitchen staff in the preparation of meals according to regulations and standards.
Service.
- Responsibilities of your role:
- Undertake meal preparation, cooking and serving of consumers (including special dietary requirements), in accordance with quality assurance standards.
- Ensure that all cooking preparation and related areas are cleaned in accordance with quality assurance standards for accreditation and hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- After each meal ensure dishes are washed and stacked back onto serving trolleys and dishwasher is cleaned in accordance with quality assurance standards for accreditation and hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Assist with the implementation of quality assurance and other programs.
- Assist with minimising stock and equipment wastage and with budget control of stock and equipment.
- Any other duties commensurate with the employee’s skills and experience as directed by the Chef Manager.

- Adhere to defined work health and safety policies and procedures related to the work being undertaken in order to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.
- Comply with all policies and procedures required of employees and participate in training programs.
- Identify areas of workplace health and safety that can be improved and making recommendations to the Chef Manager.

- About you:
- Possession of TAFE or trade based qualifications, or willingness to undertake studies.
- Desirable qualifications and experience
- Experience in working in a catering services environment and in preparing a variety of foods.
- Familiarity with a variety of cooking techniques and various machines and procedures within a kitchen environment.
- A knowledge of the requirements of the Occupational Health Safety and Welfare Act, food handling and hygiene.
- Core competencies
- Capacity to work as part of a team.
- Able to work under minimal direction.
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing and to follow written instructions.
- Able to relate to a variety of other people.
- Able to work under the pressure of production timetables. Conditions:
