About Carmichael Entertainment
Our businesses include major live entertainment brands operating throughout Australia, including Bikes and Bulls, Aussie FMX shows, Monster Truck Mania Live and other touring productions. Some of our events are among the largest in Australia within their category.
The Role
The role is designed to provide hands-on experience across live events, workshop operations and farm projects, producing valuable content to assist driving our businesses. The successful applicant will have access to unique content opportunities that most students would never normally experience.
We're looking for a person who:
- Is passionate about filming, photography, storytelling and content creation.
- Is comfortable working independently.
- Is willing to travel.
- Has a positive attitude and is keen to learn.
- Is looking to build a strong portfolio and gain genuine industry experience.
Importantly, we are not necessarily looking for the most technically talented filmmaker. We are more interested in attitude, reliability and enthusiasm more than extensive experience. We are looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking, easy to work with and genuinely excited to be part of the journey.
Equipment & Transport Requirements
Applicants should:
- Have their own transport and be able to travel to our farm and workshop near Boonah and sometimes other local events.
- Have access to their own filming equipment. This does not need to be high-end professional gear. A modern smartphone capable of capturing high-quality video is acceptable.
- Have access to their own computer or editing setup capable of producing short-form video content and social media edits.
- Have full working rights within Australia.
- Be available to start with a trial day to ensure the role is a good fit for both parties.
Important Reality Check
This role is not all glamour. While there will be opportunities to film exciting events, monster trucks, freestyle motocross, rodeo competitions and large live productions, there will also be:
- Long road trips throughout regional Australia.
- Early starts and occasional late finishes.
- Time spent in workshops, sheds and on a working farm.
- Filming event setup, maintenance work and behind-the-scenes operations.
- Travel in trucks and support vehicles to regional events.
- Dust, dirt, weather and the realities of regional touring.
- Consider most of our events are on the weekends.
We want applicants who are genuinely excited by the entire experience, not just the highlights.
Proposed Engagement
- Approximately 1 day per week initially.
- Additional event and travel opportunities throughout the year.
- Indicative pay range: $280–$400 per day depending on experience and capability.
- Potential for increased hours and long-term opportunities for the right person.
Expected Deliverables
- Capture photo and video content.
- Produce short-form social media content and reels.
- Assist in building a long-term content library.
- Capture behind-the-scenes content from events, touring, workshop and farm operations.
All footage, photos and content created during paid work will remain the property of the business. The successful applicant may be permitted to use selected content within their personal portfolio, subject to approval.
Pay: $280.00 – $450.00 per day
