Objective

Scope of Role

Specific Tasks

Manage Spelling Horses
- Horse Well Being – check all horses every day
- Feed – co-ordinate daily AM/PM feeds, liaise feed company all orders
- Weekend Staff – Give direction to weekend staff for Sat PM, Sun AM/PM feeding, and any treatments needed
- Farrier – coordinate and assist farrier with shoeing of all spellers
- Vet – liaise with vet for any existing and new issues that arise, and keep records of any treatments
- Communications - assist Racing Manager with spelling updates
- Reporting - Keep Management (Trainer, General Manager, Assistant Trainer) informed of Spelling Horses with weekly/fortnightly reports – regarding length of spells and status of certain horses etc.
Report maintenance needed to Facility Manager – fences, water trough repairs, felled trees etc
Co-ordinate spelling paddock availability with Facility Manager
Any other acceptable tasks as directed by Trainer, General Manager & Head Assistant Trainer

Requirements

Applications must have experience handling and caring for Thoroughbred Racehorses
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Salary negotiable for successful candidates
