About the position

Corangamite Shire Council is seeking a Finance Officer to play a key role in supporting Council’s financial operations, with a focus on financial accounting and Accounts Payable functions.

The main responsibilities will include:

Assisting with the financial accounting aspects of Council operations using a team approach, ensuring all financial records are accurate and capable of producing timely statutory reporting.
Undertaking Accounts Payable functions for Council, ensuring supplier invoices, reconciliations, creditor payments and related records are processed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with Council policies, delegations and statutory requirements.
Supporting the preparation of Financial Statements, Grants Commission Return, Audit opinions and other financial reports.
Supporting the preparation of timely, relevant and accurate financial reporting on a monthly and ad hoc basis.
Assisting the Manager Finance to effectively and efficiently carry out the financial functions of the Council, including core financial accounting and Accounts Payable activities.

About you

Demonstrated experience in Accounts Payable functions, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, payment runs, maintenance of supplier records and the application of internal controls.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across financial accounting and Accounts Payable functions while maintaining accuracy and meeting statutory and organisational deadlines
Demonstrated involvement in the preparation of year-end Financial Statements and the year-end Financial Reporting process.
Developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills.
Recent National Police Check, or willingness to obtain.
