Happy Soul Bistro is seeking a skilled and motivated Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team in Boorowa Ex Services Club - Boorowa NSW. This is a full-time role suited to an experienced chef who can manage a designated kitchen section, maintain consistent food quality, and contribute to smooth daily kitchen operations.
About the Role
As a Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality meals in accordance with the bistro's menu, service standards and customer expectations. You will work closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team to ensure efficient service, strong food presentation, proper stock control and compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
The role requires a reliable and hands-on chef who can work efficiently during busy service periods, assist with preparation and ordering, and support the overall performance of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare, cook and present dishes in accordance with the bistro's menu, recipes, portion standards and customer requirements.
· Manage a designated kitchen section during preparation and service, ensuring timely and consistent food output.
· Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation to ensure meals meet the required standard before service.
· Assist the Head Chef with menu planning, daily specials, food preparation methods and seasonal menu adjustments.
· Estimate food requirements for the section, monitor stock levels, assist with ordering supplies and minimise food wastage.
· Coordinate mise en place, portion control, plating and service flow during lunch, dinner and peak trading periods.
· Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to junior kitchen staff where required.
· Discuss food preparation, service timing and operational issues with the Head Chef, kitchen team and front-of-house staff.
· Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment in accordance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
· Follow and assist in enforcing food hygiene procedures, safe food handling practices and internal kitchen standards.
Requirements
· Proven experience as a Chef de Partie, Chef or in a similar commercial kitchen role.
· Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification is preferred.
· Strong culinary skills with attention to detail, food quality and presentation.
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
· Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen compliance requirements.
· Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude.
· Ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
· Reliable, organised and capable of maintaining consistent standards during busy service periods.
