Over the years Woodlands has grown to become one of the largest employers in the Beerwah area with a current workforce of approximately 190 employees.

As the major employer in the area, Woodlands’ staff are loyal with one employee recently retiring after 56 years of employment and a large number of staff celebrating over 15 years service with us.

Due to the size and complexity of the business, Woodlands employs a range of staff to work across various aspects of the business from working on poultry farm to shedding and equipment and transport the produce and equipment.

For Bio-Security purposes, our staff are unable to own, care or keep any avian species at home (i.e. birds, chickens, ducks etc) whilst employed at Woodlands.

Maintenance Field Technician

Woodlands is seeking a Maintenance Field Technician (trade qualified) who will provide effective maintenance and repair of poultry sheds and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

To carry out maintenance to poultry sheds and equipment, including replace and rebuild components including fans, press bearings, winches, pulleys and cool pads
Respond and attend to breakdowns and shed maintenance
Perform preventative maintenance in a timely, cost-effective manner with proficient problem-solving skills
Proactively identify, diagnose, and repair breakdowns of auger motors, feedline motors, silo repairs and feed hoppers in a timely manner
Actively participate and assist in equipment upgrades and installations
Promote a safety culture and comply with company policies
Participate in Toolbox Talks and assist in resolving operational issues
Work effectively in team environment with a positive attitude

Skills and experience

Candidates should have the following skills and qualifications:

Trade certificate is essential (Fitter)
Strong mechanical background or mechanically minded individual
Welding experience is essential (MIG welding)
Working at Heights is desirable
EWP is desirable
Confined Space is desirable
Excellent manual handling skills - some heavy lifting required
Must be able to work in a dusty environment
Core hours are 5.30am – 2.30pm (with on call after hours and weekends on a roster basis)
Be prepared to reside in the local vicinity

Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Repair and maintain required machinery to a consistently high standard.
Respond to general housekeeping requirements and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Receive and action specialised maintenance jobs from the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor.
Respond quickly to machinery breakdowns, with the aim of minimising downtime.
Record and report the consumption spare parts.
Understand and ensure work complies with controlled documents, and complete and maintain quality records when required by procedural documentation.
