Located near Burraboi in southern New South Wales, JBS Australia’s Yambinya feedlot is a premier facility with a licensed capacity of 12,000 beef cattle and 45,000 lambs. Acquired in 2009, Yambinya is renowned for its Portoro Natural grain program, producing sustainable, hormone-free, GMO-free, and antibiotic-free beef. This feedlot plays a crucial role in JBS's high-end beef production, ensuring top-quality grain-fed cattle for discerning markets. Hands to join our Livestock Team, working a 10 on / 4 off roster.
This is a full-time permanent role with annual salary not less than $79,423 plus superannuation.
NOTE: Roster may vary depending on the season/weather conditions and changes are at the discretion of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Daily livestock handling including stock movements, trough/pen cleaning and maintenance, induction process, and incoming/outgoing stock movements
- Plan, organise and oversee daily farming operations, including livestock feeding, breeding and nutrition programs, to maximise herd productivity and operational performance
- Diagnosis of animal health symptoms
- ·Administration of animal health treatments including accurate record keeping
- Implementing and monitoring biosecurity, animal welfare and environmental management practices in accordance with JBS Australia policies and industry standards
- Overseeing the maintenance of farm infrastructure, including yards, fences, pens, water supply systems and livestock handling facilities
- Maintaining and evaluating livestock production records, monitoring operational performance, and assisting with production planning and resource allocation
- Supervising and coordinating farm staff and contractors to ensure efficient farm operations and achievement of production targets
- Maintaining compliance with JBS Australia Policies, including but not limited to: WHS, HR, QA, and Animal Welfare & Environmental Obligations
Criteria:
- Relevant Bachelor Degree or higher qualification plus 1 year of relevant experience. Alternatively, at least 5 years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification
- Previous experience working with livestock is essential
- Preferred Good Working Dogs both cattle and lambs ( Not Essential)
- Preferred Access to Suitable Horses and Tack (Not Essential)
- Communication, organisational & interpersonal skills
- Strong commitment to animal welfare, health and nutrition
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment
- Ability & willingness to learn new skills
