The Clinical Nurse Educator will be a valued member of the Surgical Ward 1 Unit to undertake education, mentoring, clinical leadership, and workforce development. Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and multidisciplinary team. You will foster a culture of continuous learning, evidence-based practice, and excellence in patient care. About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
Providing expert clinical support, education and mentorship to nursing staff.
Supporting orientation, onboarding and transition programs for new, graduate and specialty nursing staff.
Coordinating and monitoring staff clinical competencies and mandatory training requirements.
Delivering education sessions, bedside teaching and practice development initiatives.
Collaborating with the NUM and multidisciplinary team to identify learning needs and develop targeted education plans.
Supporting quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs and evidence-based practice.
Assisting with competency assessments, performance development and professional growth opportunities for nursing staff.
Promoting a positive learning environment aligned with AWH values and the Best Practice Clinical Learning Environment Framework.
About You
To be successful, you will possess:
Essential
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
Demonstrated advanced clinical experience within a surgical or acute inpatient setting.
Experience in staff development, clinical teaching, mentoring and education delivery.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
Strong commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement and patient-centred care.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Desirable
Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Education, Adult Learning or related field.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willingness to work towards.
Previous experience in a Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Support Nurse or senior clinical leadership role.
