Crustelo Pizza & Pasta is a contemporary Italian restaurant offering gourmet pizzas, fresh artisanal pasta, parmigianas, wings and other quality dishes. We are committed to using fresh ingredients and delivering consistent food quality in a welcoming and fast-paced environment.

Shiva Hospitality Pty Ltd is seeking a passionate, qualified and experienced chef to join our kitchen team. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in food preparation, maintains high standards and can work efficiently during busy service periods.

Key responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

Preparing and cooking pizzas, pasta, sauces, parmigianas, meat dishes and other menu items.
Ensuring all dishes are prepared according to approved recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards.
Monitoring the quality and freshness of ingredients and finished dishes.
Assisting with menu planning, recipe development and the introduction of seasonal specials.
Estimating food and ingredient requirements based on expected customer demand.
Managing stock rotation, storage, ordering and inventory levels.
Monitoring food costs, portion control and wastage to support efficient kitchen operations.
Checking kitchen equipment and work areas to ensure they are clean, safe and properly maintained.
Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
Coordinating with other kitchen staff and the front-of-house team during service.
Training, supervising and supporting junior kitchen staff where required.
Contributing to the smooth daily operation of the kitchen.
Maintaining accurate records relating to food safety, stock and kitchen procedures.

Skills and experience

To be considered, applicants must have:

At least one year of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
A minimum Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or Commercial Cookery.
An Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management.
A current positive skills assessment as a Chef.
Practical knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and food preparation.
A sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and stock-control requirements.
Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The ability to manage multiple orders and maintain quality during busy service periods.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Experience preparing Italian cuisine, particularly pizza, pasta and sauces, will be highly regarded.
